Zygomatic Implants
Fixed upper teeth for patients told they don’t have enough bone
Lost too much upper jawbone for regular implants? Zygomatic implants take their hold in your cheekbone instead, so fixed teeth are still possible, often with no bone graft first. At Smile Again in Fairfield, NJ, they are placed by oral surgeon Dr. David Zelig, a leader and teacher in zygomatic and pterygoid implants, and your teeth are designed by Board-Certified Prosthodontist Dr. Daniel Greenbaum.

A stronger anchor when the upper jaw has thinned
After teeth are lost, the upper jaw slowly shrinks and the sinuses take over the space. A regular implant has nothing solid to hold. A zygomatic implant is longer, runs alongside the jaw, and locks into the dense bone of the cheekbone.
They are usually placed one on each side, often with regular implants at the front, and together they hold a fixed bridge of upper teeth that stays in, day and night.

Who zygomatic implants are for
- You were told you don't have enough bone for implants
- Your upper denture has gotten loose and hard to wear
- An earlier upper implant or bone graft didn't succeed
- You'd rather skip a bone graft and the months of waiting
- You want fixed upper teeth that don't come out at night
At Smile Again, everyone is a candidate for implants and permanent teeth, even if told before they don't have enough bone.

See your own bone in 3D before anything is placed
A flat x-ray can miss bone you still have. Our CBCT 3D scan shows your jaw, sinuses and cheekbones in full, so Dr. Zelig can plan the exact angle and length of every implant, then place it with guided surgery. More on 3D imaging
